I have a fondness for the spaces on the urban fringe, the zombie wastelands of decay and renewal. My photograph 'Christina' is an expression of this affection, as I seek to make urban landscapes that breathe in a different way.
I am inspired by the muted palette of Andrew Wyeth’s painting 'Christina’s World', with its tawny field and unadorned structures. Wyeth argued 'when you really begin to peer into something, a simple object, and realize the profound meaning of that thing—if you have an emotion about it, there’s no end.' .
Taken from the series Liberty, an ongoing work of ‘close to home’ photography exploring themes of belonging and connection to place.
