Aah, to take in the closeness of the sea; it’s security and it’s weight.” - Bergman, Ingnar.Workbook for Persona. 1965 While recovering at the clinic, she said “Usually, he never gets anything less than a Silver Medal.” In our family, your value is determined more by what you do, than who you are. Or so it seems. To all of our detriment. Fatigued after months of care giving, I took respite in the simplicity and solitude of the coast</image:caption>

My photograph 'Christina' is an expression of this affection, as I seek to make urban landscapes that breathe in a different way. I am inspired by the muted palette of Andrew Wyeth’s painting 'Christina’s World', with its tawny field and unadorned structures. Wyeth argued 'when you really begin to peer into something, a simple object, and realize the profound meaning of that thing—if you have an emotion about it, there’s no end.' . Taken from the series Liberty, an ongoing work of ‘close to home’ photography exploring themes of belonging and connection to place.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Saviour Of The World 1993 gelatin silver print 8 x 8 in. From 1988 to 1996 an art studio known as the Art Access Studio operated on the grounds of Larundel [...]. While art therapy had been introduced to Victorian psychiatric hospitals [...], such programs had a clinical focus, with patient artwork utilised as diagnostic tools. The Art Access Studio departed from this model, offering patients the opportunity for self-directed exploration of their creativity. The program was run by practising artists, participation was voluntary and the patients’ works were regarded as art and not subject to analysis. - La Trobe Art Institute.
